Mercedes Benz 450 SEL DIS Ignition Q. A few years I installed a Pertronix Ignitor, eliminating the points. I'd now like to install a DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITION SYSTEM. Are there any that'll work on a 1975 450SEL and, if so, is one brand better than another? 1975 Mercedes Benz 450 SEL 4.5 liter V-8 Automatic transmission 160,000 Fuel Injection P/S, A/C, Cruise control Thank you for your time. A. Sorry Arland, can't help you with this. I suggest you contact the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. Maybe someone else has done this conversion.

I don't believe it can be done, if at all, without major control unit replacements.
