Chevy Blazer Torque Converter Is Bad?

Q. I have a 1978 Chevy Blazer 4WD, automatic transmission and a 350 c.i.d engine with a 4bbl carburetor. It has a lot of miles. The problem is that when you are taking off you have to depress the accelerator pedal all the way in order for you to pick up speed, but once you get to about 40 mph the truck drives just fine.

Chevy Blazer Torque Converter Is Bad?

I think it has something to do with the torque converter but I am not sure The engine idles fine and revs up with out hesitation when out of gear. Would you give me some insight into what the problem could be? It would be very much appreciated.

A. It could very well be the torque convertor not "hooking up". Also anything else in the transmission would be a suspect as well.
