Broken Line, Bad Seal

Q. Can you advise me if it is possible to dry a transmission seal to the point where it starts leaking from the following incident: A hose line broke while traveling down the highway, I noticed the rpm gauge drop to 4,000 and put the transmission (automatic) into neutral and allowed the van (1992 Dodge Caravan) to coast about 1/2 to 1 mile into a service station.

When I got out, the fluid was still leaking out of the broken line. My question is would this amount of time dry the seal to the point where it would be leaking? I need to know because I am being told I must pay several hundreds of dollars to have this seal replaced and it was replaced just about 30-45 days ago when I had to have this transmission rebuilt.

Please help,
Emilie

A. Under the conditions you describe, in my opinion, I don't believe the broken line led to the failure of seal. But you know what they say about opinions...
