Souped Up GMC C1500

Q. Hello, I was wondering if you could help me? I have a 2002 GMC C1500 2WD Sierra (light duty) with the 5.3 liter Vortec engine. I have installed a Volant cold air intake system, a FlowMaster muffler, and a Power Programmer III. Now on the Programmer I have the hypertunning activated along with the shift firmness on the automatic transmission..

Now my question is that if I change my stock cast iron headers to a pair of JBA high performance headers is their a chance that my engine can run lean and ping because I have the truck hypertunned with the programmer? I mean I would love the headers because I'm thinking that since I have more air going in, it would make sense to have the headers installed, but then I still have a catalytic converter that I can't touch. Anyways, thanks if you can help

A. I can't see headers making it run lean. If you have the O2 sensors hooked up they should compensate for any lean condition.
