Aerostar 5-Speed Transmission Q. Dear Vincent Ciulla, I am looking for a break down diagram of a 1987 Ford Aerostar 5 speed standard transmission with over drive. The van. has a 3.0 liter engine. This transmission has seized up for no reason. In neutral it turns okay by hand but in gear it won't turn at all.

Also are there aftermarket parts available for this transmission? Could you tell me where to find a diagram for this transmission?

A. Usually when that happens the transmission is in two gears at the same time. I can put an exploded view of that transmission, but I couldn't list all of the parts. I just don't have the time with a hundred questions waiting for answers.

Your best bet would be the reference section of your local public library that will have manuals for that transmission you can check out, or at the very least make photocopies.

I believe some of the transmission parts are available from aftermarket sources. Personally i have always gone to the dealer for what I need.
