Pontiac Grand Am Check Engine Light

Q. My Check Engine and ETS lights not going off when I start the car and leave it running. My fan stays constantly running with the car running, turns off when I shut the car off. About the ETS light, when I turn the key on and wait a minute before trying to start the car, letting everything go through it's checks then I push the ETS Button on the gear shift and the ETS light goes off and stays off until I start the car.

Starting the car I hear at the very first when the car is starting and begin to run a "almost vibration sound" metal buzz" for about a ½-second. We had the car put on an computer diagnostic machine and it did not find anything wrong, no codes came up. What is the next step?

Thank you for your time.

A. Try another scanner! You need a GM TECH 2 scanner. If the MIL is on, there will be codes stored. The ETS light and fan running are most likely a byproduct of the MIL being on. If the coolant sensor goes out the ECM will turn on the fan, a default, so it won't overheat.
