Chevy Tahoe Is Taking On Water
Q. Hello, I have a 1999 4 door Chevy Tahoe. When it rains and there is a lot of water on the road, the tires throw it up under the truck and I get water in the passenger side rear side door rocker panel well. If the truck sits and there is a hard rain no water enters inside so I believe it is coming from underneath the body. I see something like caulk, looks like from a caulking gun, apparently on seams in the body.
I can't find any obvious holes so I have been spraying undercoat out of an aerosol can all over and on the caulking but have had no success in stopping the water entry. Have you heard of this before on Tahoes? Is the calk on seams standard assembly practice? I can't seem to find anybody with this problem to help out and can't believe I am the only one with this problem. Can you please help?
Thanks...
A. Have you seen a GM dealer? There are service bulletins out for this. Suburbans and Tahoes are having this problem and there is a reseal procedure to fix it.
