Nissan Quest Difficult to Start

Q. I have a 95 Nissan Quest. I just had it tuned up and it still has to be turned over two or three times before it will start. I have 80k on it. It is, of course, automatic and has fuel injection. I have run out of gas once (2 yrs ago) never had the injectors cleaned, timing belt has not been replaced.... yet. I do not run the tank down to where it is less than 4-5 gallons of gas. It is a six cylinder. No ABS...rack and pinion N/A for this problem.

Any help you might provide would be great.
Susan

A. Since you are overdue by 20,000 miles for a timing belt, i would do that before I started looking for any other problems. Timing belts stretch over time and will throw the base timing off enough to cause a difficult start. Right now you are rolling the dice on major engine damage because the Nissan V6 timing belt will snap at about the milage you're at now.

I would get the belt replaced as soon as possible and take it from there. It will not be wasted money in any case and it will be a small amount compared to pulling the heads and replacing all the valves.
