Chevy Metro Water Leak

Q. Hi! I have a 2000 Chevy Metro, 4 door. I bought this car used, it just turned over 36,000 miles. I have only one major complaint. Every time it rains, the floors get flooded. I don't know where the water comes from. All the windows and doors are closed tightly. The windshield doesn't leak.

I have seen a small bit of water on door sills, but it doesn't compare to the water inside the car. I've gotten as much as 1½ gallons out of it. Could it be coming up through the floor?

A. Water travels in many ways! It could be coming through the doors if someone had them apart and left the plastic seals out of place. The best way to start is to sit in car with a good flashlight. Have someone spray water on the car while you look all around the doors and windshield, under the dash, lift the rugs at the sill panels to see if water is running under from somewhere else. If all else fails, take it to a dealer or a body shop.
