Toyota Engine Swap

Q. Hey how are ya, I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel, automatic, front wheel drive, fuel injection, 4 cylinder. Problem is that the engine is blown. I found a 1996 Paseo and they told me at the junk yard that they could be swapped.

But I want more confirmation. I am wondering if the wiring harness and electrical system will hook up and work. The guy at the junk yard asked me if my car had a distributer cap on the end of the block and if the spark plugs were on the middle of the block. I guess that is one way to tell if it was the same base engine. He also said the Paseo was a 3E-E engine which is supposedly the same as the Tercel. I would appreciate your help.

Thanks,
David

A. The engine should be almost a direct bolt-in. The mounts for the 3e,4e and 5e engines are all the same and you could use either one of them. If you want the engine to run once it's in the car, you're going have to get the engine harness and ECU from the donor vehicle also.
