Chrysler Lebaron Lost It's Top

Q. I own a 1993 Chrysler Lebaron convertible. My question is regarding the hydraulic system that drives the automatic top. After 80,000 miles the first (top) motor burned out and has been replaced. In the replacement some of the fluid was lost from the system and while replaced, it seems likely that some air has seeped into the system and is preventing proper functioning (i.e. the top won't go up anymore).

Is there a proscribed method for increasing system pressure that I am missing or does the entire system need to be bled and started over? Please anything that you can offer in a recommendation would be much appreciated. Chrysler documentation for this model makes little mention of this system and procedures in general.

Thanks much.
Ron

A. The hydraulic system is self bleeding. Working the top switch up and down should bleed it out. If not, then I would suggest taking it to the dealer to be checked out. They have pressure gauges they can install and find out what , exactly, the problem is.

Do NOT try cracking a line to try and bleed it. That pump puts out almost 3,000 psi and you will injure yourself.
