Lincoln Town Car Interior Lights On

Q. I have a 1998 Lincoln Town Car Cartier. Today my wife went shopping and on the way home the interior lights went on and stayed on even after shutting off the ignition. I had to disconnect the battery to shut the interior lights out. Please advise what the problem might be and also the location of the door light switch when the door is open?

Thanks,
Mike

A. The door switch is in the door latch. To replace it you would need to remove the door panel and then remove the door latch. One thing to look for is if the door is out of adjustment. Are the doors flush with the pillars? If any one is sticking further out than the pillars, the door will need to be adjusted inward. I would recommend a body shop make this adjustment.

This vehicle does not have your Fathers interior lighting system. There is a Lighting Control Module (LCM) that controls all the interior lighting functions. The LCM itself could possibly be bad. The main lighting switch can be bad as well. It is not an easy system to troubleshoot without a service manual, wiring diagram and logic probe.
