Dying Nissan

Q. I have a 91 Nissan Stanza that keeps dying. I have checked the fuel pump and filter, seems to be working good, but the cars acts like it is flooding out. It has 113,300 miles and has a new transmission, clutch, plugs and air filter. The oil is changed regularly and the engine light does not come on. I live in a very rural area and can not find anyone that works on this car. Also the motor fans will not work unless the AC is on. Also had checked to see if the catalytic converter is putting out and it is. Please help if you can this is my only transportation and I need some kind of idea has to what is wrong with it.

Thank you.

A. I would check the fuel pressure and make sure it is between 36 and 41 psi and steady. If it's higher than that, it's pushing too much fuel through the injectors. If it's okay then you'll need to check the injectors for leak down. Install the fuel pressure gauge then start and let the car idle. Shut the car off and pinch off the feed and return fuel lines. If the pressure drops, the injectors are leaking.

Also check the air boot that goes from the intake manifold to the Air Flow meter. These have a habit off popping off and creating the same symptoms you describe.
