Cadillac Seville Crazy Digital Display
Q. Vincent, Thanks in advance for helping me with this. I have a 1994 Cadillac Seville SLS with the Northstar engine, automatic transmission, fuel injection, P/S, A/C and cruise control. I have a problem with the digital dash going out, coming back on, going "matrix" (just crazy looking) goes brighter and sometimes just totally blank. Then it will just stay on and be okay for a while.
I have noticed this happening mostly in the summer time. Never done it during cold months. Spring is here and starting to do it again. I feel that it is not necessarily in the display itself. Seems to be almost like a voltage issue. Car has 100,000 miles on it and don't feel like putting too much money into it to fix the dash.
I read somewhere that it is a voltage thing that can be corrected by putting in some capacitors? Also was referred to a bulletin TSB #T90-31. Any idea how to look at this bulletin? Any input is greatly appreciated.

A. I think it’s likely that you have a weak connection in the back of the dashboard where the harness connects to the printed circuit boards in the digital dashboard. Increased humidity in the springtime most likely exacerbates the problem. The instrument panel will have to be removed and the connectors inspected and cleaned. This would be the first step I would take to attempt to solve your problem.
I could not find the TSB you mentioned nor could I find any reference to this problem in the TSBs from 1992 to 1996.
