Lumina Wets Itself
Q. I have a 1992 Chevy Lumina, 2dr, auto, 3.1 L V.6 engine. My problem is the air conditioner - water is draining through the vents onto the floorboard instead of outside. How can I fix this and where is the hose that drains outside of the car located?
Thanks for the help,
TammyA. The A/C drain hose will be on the passenger side of the car. In the engine compartment, look for a hose that comes out of the fire wall and points down. It will be about ¾" to 1" in diameter. You may have to get under the car to find it. This may sound stupid, but it is generally in line with the glove box.
Since it is probably clogged, unclogging it will obviously solve the problem. When you locate the hose, note it's position coming out of the fire wall. Then look under the dash in the same area and see if you can find where it connects to the evaporator box. Sometimes it is easy to get to in which case you can take the hose off and blow through it to clear it out. As soon as you unplug it, you will get a flood of water so have some towels or a catch pan ready. There may be some bits of foam insulation in the box so you may need to poke something in the tube from the evaporator to dislodge it and allow it to come out.
