S-10 Hood Release Cable Q. I have a 1992 Chevy S-10 pickup, 4.3 liter FI, automatic transmission, approximately 80,000 miles. My problem is the hood release latch cable broke and I need to know how to open the hood so I can replace the cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

A. Don't panic!! The first thing I would do is look at another S-10. They should be the same from 1983-1994, so there should be one in every driveway. Open the hood to see what kind of tool you need to make to sneak up through the grill and pop that latch. Get a piece of heavy wire to bend to the shape you need and get to work. You should have that baby open in less than a ½ hour with the right wire and some patience.
