Chevy ABS Module
Q. Vincent, I own a 1995 Chevy C1500, 2 wheel drive pick up, 350 cu, Automatic, ABS, The ABS light came on. About two months ago it came on a couple of times but I would turn the engine off and restarted it and it would stay off, did this for about a week and then it never came on again until this week and then it would not go out.
Went to the local dealer and they first told me it was a brake light bulb, after repairing the alternator they took it for a test ride and said that the ABS light came back on. They did a check and told me that their was no communication because the ABS module was dead. They quoted a price of $554.00 total. 475.00 for the part. I told them forget it I can not afford that now.
Need advice on as to searching for a different source at a cheaper price and installing it myself. Would you or not recommend this. I hate to find a cheaper source and install it myself and it go bad because of something that is not seen as of yet. I do not know where the module is located at. Is There a web site that has a online service manual that will show the location of the module?
Help!!!
StefanA. Sounds like you need to have the front suspension looked at. Possibly worn ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm or center link. Rotors could be out of parallel, tires out of round or out of balance. This should not be to hard to find.
