Oldsmobile Delta 88 Carburetor

Q. Hello, My name is Paul and I have a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with rochester carburetor # 17084191 and a 3.8 liter V-6. I don't own any gauges or meters, but was wondering if there was a way I could get this carburetor close to factory specifications. If so, could you tell me how to get this carburetor at least in the ballpark of being correct as far as idle mixture screws, idle air bleed screw and idle speed? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

A. These were hard to get right even with the proper tools! It's pretty much a trial and error thing on idle mixture screws without an emissions analyzer. As for the air bleed, you will need to hook up a dwell meter to set this.
