Honda A/C Warning Light On

Q. Question, I have a 1991 Honda Prelude SI, and the air conditioner works on and off. I have had the R-12 coolant filled. Here is what it is doing. You turn on the air and it will run and cycle for a while, then the RED light comes on, which is the compressor.

Turn off the air and back on and it will work for a while and the RED light comes back on. You can do this three times and then the RED light will not go off until the car is shut off and started back up, you then get three try's again. Sometimes it will run for 45 minutes other times it will run for three minutes. Please help!!

Thank you...

A. There are two possibilities, one is the A/C compressor clutch and the other is the A/C compressor control unit. First thing to do is check the wire at the A/C compressor and make sure it is clean and tight.

Testing this system is a little complicated and it would probably be best for the dealer to look at it for you.
