Chevy Corsica TCC Solenoid Is Stuck

Q. Hi Vince: Say, I have a 1990 Chevy Corsica with a 3.1 liter and an automatic transmission. My problem is this, If I cruise for over 20 to 25 minutes on the freeway the torque converter will not unlock, the car of course stalls out, the only way I can unlock it is to start it up and do a huge neutral drop, which to say the least is not a good idea but it is the only thing that works. Please help, any ideas??

Thanks for you time,
Mike

Chevy Corsica TCC Solenoid Is Stuck

A. Two choices:

  1. Replace the TCC solenoid inside the transmission side cover, approximately $200.00 parts and labor. DIY: Replace Your TCC Solenoid (GM)
  2. Disconnect the TCC altogether. There is a plug on the front side of trans that can be unplugged to dis-able TCC.
