Questions and Answers

DRL's Only

Q. I've only been able to use my daytime running lights. When I turn on the headlights, the daytime lights turn off (no lights whatsoever). At the same time my brights only flash, I cannot click them on.

What I've done so far: I've changed the diodes/relays, and still no headlights. Part of the process, when you take out the diodes, the headlights stay on (not sure if they are daytime or headlights). When the headlight switch is on, and you insert the relay, you can hear the switch clicking on: the daytime lights turn off, the headlights don't come on. What could we look at next to hopefully resolve this problem?

Thank you very much for your help, I've been running on daytime lights for the past 2 years, frequently on the interstate.

A. Sounds like you need to visit your local Public Library and get hold of a service manual. Make copies of the wiring diagram and the diagnostic charts. You have a short circuit somewhere and you'll have to trace it down.
