Chevy Blazer Window Motor

Q. Hello Vincent. My name is Mike and I've been a mechanic for a few years mostly on ford Ambulances. However, I have a problem with my Chevy S-10 Blazer. The driver side window will not roll down, "power" window. I tried the fuse and replaced that first and replaced the window switch because I had power going into the switch but nothing happened after that.

I then later realized that the motor was shot. The replacement window motor comes with holes but the original motor was riveted into the door itself. I have drilled out all the rivets and I still cannot get the old motor to come out. I tried every thing I could think of. It refuses to release any suggestions??

A. Whoa! Most Chevy S-10 Blazers need to remove the regulator from the door to replace the motor. There is a large counter balance spring on the regulator. If you already removed the rivets, you have a time bomb on your hands! If the motor does happen to separate from the regulator it can cut off a finger or worse, your hand.

If the regulator is still in door you will need to carefully try to separate the motor to get this spring to release it's tension so you can get in there to replace it. As far as I know you need to have the regulator out to rivet the new motor back in place. Then install the whole thing in one piece.
