Ford Mondeo Radio Removal
Q. Hi there. I've scoured your site all over, but I'm still confused for an answer to the following. I own a Ford Mondeo with an RDS 5000 stereo. Recently I was playing a tape and now it is jammed in the mechanism. I just need to know how to remove the radio so that I can (hopefully) un-jam the cassette and listen to something other than local radio stations!
Thanks a lot,
JohnA. You didn't mention the year, but the majority of Ford Radios are the same. Here's what you have to do:
- Use the special tool to release the audio unit retaining clips.
- Apply outward pressure on the special tool while pulling the audio unit away from the instrument panel.
- Remove the audio unit.
You can make a tool good enough to do the job by bending up a couple of pieces of coat hanger.
