Ford Mondeo Radio Removal

Q. Hi there. I've scoured your site all over, but I'm still confused for an answer to the following. I own a Ford Mondeo with an RDS 5000 stereo. Recently I was playing a tape and now it is jammed in the mechanism. I just need to know how to remove the radio so that I can (hopefully) un-jam the cassette and listen to something other than local radio stations!

Thanks a lot,
John

A. You didn't mention the year, but the majority of Ford Radios are the same. Here's what you have to do:

  1. Use the special tool to release the audio unit retaining clips.

  2. Apply outward pressure on the special tool while pulling the audio unit away from the instrument panel.

  3. Remove the audio unit.

You can make a tool good enough to do the job by bending up a couple of pieces of coat hanger.
