Buick Regal Rear Disc Brake Pistons
Q. Hello, I have a 1990 Buick Regal with rear disc brakes. I was just wondering how far the adjustment goes back on the caliper piston. I have a tool for it but the brakes seem to be heating up. Maybe I didn't turn it back far enough but I got the thing back together ok, but the wheel didn't move freely. Or maybe the pads were too thick?
Please let me know what you think,
Thanks.A. That piston will screw in quite a way. It can be a little difficult to screw it in so what I do is pick up the dust boot enough to fit a red straw and spray some CRC 5-56 in it before I turn them in. If the pads don't fit, then it needs to be screwed in some more. There is actually a spec for it. There should be 1/8 of an inch clearance between the pad and the rotor when you install new brakes.
