Dodge Caravan Makes Popping Noise

Q. I have had this Dodge Caravan for about 2½ years. It is the basic package so I guess that's a four cylinder. It has about 65,000 miles on it. We just got it aligned with new tires. My question is about this fast popping sound that comes from the suspension when I slow down to a stop or start off to a go and when I turn.

Dodge Caravan Makes Popping Noise

I, at first, thought it was my CV joints but it pops when I am going straight. I am a female and don't want to get ripped off. What could this be and about how much would this problem cost to be fixed.

Thank you so much,
Kimberly

A. CV joints can make noise when going straight, so we can not completely rule them out as a possible cause. The other possibility are the front struts. When they start to go bad, they can make a noise such as you describe.

I would suggest you have two or three different mechanics drive and listen to the noise. This way you can be reasonable sure you are getting the correct diagnosis.
