Taurus Door Switch - Revisited

Q. Mr. Ciulla, Thanks for this article Taurus Door Switch. This has been driving me crazy for a long time!! I also cannot find the location of the switch. I found the definition of the B pillar and I have looked and looked but I still cannot find the switch.

I do not have a Chiltons guide and my local Auto parts store did not have Chiltons, they had Haynes which does not show the location of the switch. Could you please provide me more details on the location, such as; which rubber cover are you referring to?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

A. You know Mike, every once in a while I make a mistake. This was one of them. The door ajar switch is located in the lower portion of the door latch. You'll have to remove the door panel and remover the latch assembly to replace it. However, I would try adjusting the door inward a bit before tearing things apart. If the drivers door is not flush with the B pillar, then it needs adjustment.

For clarification, the A pillars are the front two, next to the windshield. The B pillars are the two behind the front seats and the C pillars are the two in the back, next to the rear window. Sorry for the mix up.
