Oldsmobile Alero Security No Start

Q. I have a 1999 Olds Alero with a 2.4 liter engine in it. It is an automatic with 35,000 miles on it. It has A/C, ABS, and fuel injection. The problem is the security light on the dash intermittently comes on before the car starts and when this light starts to flash the car will not start for another 10 minutes.

When the light is flashing the car will turn-over but because this is part of the "PassLock Theft Deterrent System" the fuel is shut off by the computer. The light will start to flash just after the car starts to turn-over.

It now has started to do this several times in a row, so the problem is getting worse. I took it to a mechanic who told me my battery was bad so I replaced it. The problem is still happening. I have checked all the fuses that the manual states go with the ignition system and they are all good. Any Ideas would be helpful.

A. Take it to a dealer, just don't take it to Ray Hutson. I have had personal experience with them and there are people there who are not to be trusted. There may be new software or a revised ignition switch. Also could have a problem in the sense circuit for ignition lock cylinder.
