Jeep Wrangler Starts Weird
Q. I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler 2.5 liter 4 Cylinder. About six months ago I installed new Bosch Platinum +4 plugs and wires. Also I got a new Optima battery. Lately the Jeep has been starting weird. I would let it try to start for about four seconds and then turn off the key and try starting it again and then it would start up.
I recently changed my oil. I added four quarts of engine oil and then a bottle of engine restore so I don't know if I put to much in the engine because I looked at the dip stick and it says i'm over but I don't know if the engine restore stuff affects it. I hope you can help me with this, that would be great!
A. If you replaced the oil filter with the oil change, five quarts (I'm assuming the "Engine Restore" was a quart bottle) would not do any harm. The capacity is four quarts without the filter.
I don't know about using those Bosch spark plugs. That engine will run best with Champion RC12LYC spark plugs gapped at 0.035".Since it ran fine before the new plugs and wires, the first I would want to do is eliminate the spark plugs and ignition wires as the cause.
