Questions and Answers

Geo Antenna And Radio

Q. Dear Vincent, I can't believe you would freely offer your time and knowledge for this question. Anyway I will try. Have a 1993 Geo Prizm (4 cylinder, 4 door sedan) with a broken antenna and cassette receiver. Would like to replace it with after-market parts myself.

Don't know where to get help with some basic instructions on how to unmount the antenna and the radio. Guess I may need to get a "wiring harness" if I get a JVC or Kenwood or something like that. Do I need anything else? Also, will I need any special tools? I bumped into a great site called installdr.com (that offers help on car stereos) but unfortunately they didn't have anything on Prizm's or antennas. Any help to my questions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jose

A. The antenna is fairly easy to do. Two screws in the roof, remove the left side kick panel and unplug the cable. Then the antenna should pull out the roof hole. As for the radio, most places in my area will install a radio for free if you buy it from them. There are lots of installation kits that have harness jumpers so you don't have to cut anything.
