Chevy Lumina Turn Signals

Q. 1990 Chevy Lumina sedan. I am having problems with the blinkers. I cannot get any light on the dash or light in the taillight by manually holding blinker on. I checked all fuses and bulbs. Do you think it is the switch on steering column or what? Please help me if you can.

Signed, Frustrated

A. Dear Frustrated, Wow! Now I feel like Ann Landers.

Okay, if I understand you correctly, the turn signals are not working at all. If fuse 8 in the fuse box is good, the next thing to check would be the Turn Signal Flasher Unit. Power flows from the fuse to the flasher and then to the T/S switch. You should have power to the dark blue wire at the flasher. If you do then check for power at the purple wire at the T/S switch connector. If you have power there, then you have a bad switch. If not, then you have a bad T/S flasher unit or an open in the power side of the circuit.
