Lexus ES300 Dash Illumination Lights

Q. I have a 1993 Lexus ES300. The dash light behind the temperature gauge is out. I cannot figure out how to get to it to replace it. Any help would be appreciated.

A. You have to remove the instrument cluster to get to the illumination bulbs. That's not hard. Here's how to do it.

While not necessary, it is easier to get out if you take the steering wheel off. If you have an airbag, leave the steering wheel on.

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then fully lower steering wheel.
  2. Remove finish panel screws and connectors, Figs. 17 through 21.
  3. Remove cluster screws and disconnect electrical connectors.
  4. Remove cluster assembly.
  5. Reverse procedure to install.
