GMC Sierra Carburetor

Q. My brother desperately tried to get his daughters first vehicle, 1983 S-15 GMC Sierra 2.0, running before she got her license. Well that deadline has passed and he still is not having much luck! He is one of the best backyard mechanics I know.

The problem seems to be the availability of a carburetor. There are none, without paying BIG bucks for a new and almost the same $ for a rebuilt! He is also in need of a vacuum diagram which he thought ole sis could help him out with... NOT. Unfortunately, to top it all off he has to do it on a very low budget, go figure. Do you have any suggestions??

Is there somewhere on the Internet I can go that will show me the vacuum diagram?? Thanks for any assistance you may be, if you wish us luck it will be better than most have done.

Thanks a mill

A. He should be able to overhaul that carburetor himself. As for the vacuum diagram, I would look in a junkyard for a similar truck and see if the label under the hood is read-able. If so just unbolt and take the radiator. fan shroud with the label!

You can also check the local public library. They have all the service manuals in their reference section.
