Stalling Ford Taurus

Q. I have 1996 Ford Taurus, 3.0L 24v, fuel injection V6. I put the car in the shop to have the spark plugs checked, cleaned and re-gapped and ignition wires replaced. When I got the car back it would stall when I came to a stop or when I slowed down considerably. It had never done this before. I took it back to the shop and the mechanic said that any time the battery is disconnected the computer needs to relearn the system and that after driving it for a while it will relearn it and I shouldn't have any more problems. I have driven a while now and it doesn't stall as often but it still stalls every now then.

What could be the problem?

Thank you.

A. I can understand the computer needing to "relearn" but I guess what's throwing me off is why did they disconnect the battery for a simple minor tune-up? Nothing they did could be the cause of the stalling problem. At this point I'm at a loss for suggestions as to what happened. It's possible that when they were doing the work, they inadvertently knocked a connector loose. You can drive it around a little more and see if the improvement continues. If not, then only thing I can suggest is taking it back and have them check it out agin and find the problem.
