Blazer Blowing Transmission Fluid

Q. Hi... Thank You for your site. I have a 1991 S-10 Blazer 4-wheel drive. 4.3 liter engine. I have a transmission question: It leaks. I have had it to two mechanics and they have not suggested replacing seals. The first said I needed a transmission cooler. So, I had him put it on. It slowed it down for a while.

The leak seems to becoming from the vent hole on the front of the transmission. It only seems to leak when I put the engine under some sort of pressure. Like going up and down hills, I mean on the highway, not off road. Or, when using the air conditioner. Is it the seals? Please help!

Thank You!!!
Gary

A. If it's blowing out the vent make sure you are not overfilling it! Also could have a high pressure problem due to sticking valves or check balls in the valve body. An overhaul by a competent transmission tech should fix it. This would involve seal replacement as well as clutches, checking end play and clearances.
