Noisy Clutch

Q. I have a 1997 Ford Ranger Truck. In March of this year I had the clutch replaced, and just recently it has been making noises when I press down on the pedal. Do you think that there is something wrong with it? I don't have any difficulty shifting the gears.

Jennifer

A. If you hear the noise only while your pressing the clutch in, that means the throw out bearing is no good. The only time the throw out bearing comes into play is when the clutch pedal is depressed. If you had the clutch assembly replaced in March, look on the bill and see if a new throw out bearing was installed. No mechanic I know of would replace a clutch with out it. If so, take it back to the shop that did the work and they will have to replace it.
