Chevy ¾-ton Dual To Single Fuel Tank

Q. Hi, I have a 1987 Chevy ¾-ton pickup with a 350 cid and 3 speed transmission. The problem is the fuel tanks. It has twin tanks, one isn't hooked up to put gas into it. Can I get rid of one of the tanks and remove the switching valve, hook the tank up direct without the switching value? I want to put a new gas tank and fuel pump in and eliminate the second tank. The carburetor is a TBI. I hope you can give me an answer.

Thank you,
Bob

A. I don't see why you couldn't remove the tank and switching valve and have it all hooked up like a single tank system. You just need a vacuum schematic so you know where all hoses run and make sure you disable the second tank filler pipe so someone doesn't try to put gas in.
