Nissan NX IAT Sensor

Q. Dear Vincent, I have a 1993 Nissan NX 1.6 liter DOHC, manual transmission with 87,000 miles. My question to you is on how to locate the Air Intake Sensor or what they call it the IST sensor (I think). The reason why I need this is because I ordered a resistance chip on line.

Nissan NX IAT Sensor

The purpose of which is to send a signal to the ECU that the air coming through intake is cold or something like this, so overall you get some horsepower.

This chip is a tiny cylinder, consisting of two wires on both ends which goes into the two female ends on the connector of that sensor, so yes you are doing some short circuiting, which I think is fine. I was wondering if you could assist me with this modification on locating the sensor? If I confused you with anything let me know please, and I will try to clear the confusion.

A. I know of these "chips". If you paid more than .50 for it, you got ripped off. All it is is a small resistor you can buy at any Radio Shack or electronics store. The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) is part of the Air Flow Meter (AFM). I don't have a wiring diagram for the IAT, but you can find one at the local public library, in the reference section.

It will fool the PCM into enriching the fuel mixture, but the O2 sensor will detect the enrichment and tell the computer to lean it out. In essence, it will add more fuel at the start and take it away at the end.
