Toyota Corolla Has No Brake Lights
Q. Hi Vince, my question is I have a 1990 Toyota Corolla Sedan. I have no brake lights when I hit the brake pedal. I have parking lights. I read on the internet about a "Controller" in the trunk. I can't locate it, do you know where it is? I traced the wire loom to no avail. Just bought the car, thanks for your help!

A. The reason you can't find the "Controller" is because there isn't one. The brake lights are a direct feed that work wit or without the key in the ignition.
First thing to do is to check the 15 amp STOP fuse. If it is good, check for power at the red/white wire of the brake light switch. If you have power there, push the brake light switch button in and now you should have power at the green/white wire. If not, the brake light switch is bad.
If it is good, check for power at the green/white wires of the rear light sockets. If power is there check the white/black ground wires.
I would not discount the possibility of both brake light bulbs being burnt out. You should check for this first.
