Jeep Cherokee Back Up Lights Q. The back up lights will not come on when you first start up in the morning. I have checked bulbs and they are good. When I hit the side of the shifter they will come on sometimes, but the longer I drive it they will start to work more often. I don't think that it could be the Neutral safety switch because it starts in P and in N. Where do I start to look? 1993 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 4.0 liter Automatic transmission 174,000 miles Thanks, Don

A. It could very well be the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS). The back up light switch is part of the NSS and is a separate function from the other functions of the NSS.
