Volkswagen Golf A/C Problem
Q. Hi!! I have a 2002 Volkswagen Golf GTI, 2.0 liter 4 cylinder. The A/C compressor is not turning on when I turn on the switch on the dash board. The A/C is blowing air but the air is not cold. Where is the A/C Relay or fuse, if any? How it looks? What else can I check?
- 2002 Volkswagen Golf GTI
- 2.0 liter 4 Cylinder
- Manual transmission
- 45,000 Miles
- Fuel Injection
- ABS brakes
- P/S - A/C - Cruise control
A. The first thing to do since it is the most likely possibility is to unplug the A/C Low Pressure switch and jump the connectors. If the compressor engages, then you have insufficient refrigerant in the system to operate it and the switch shut the compressor off to prevent damage. You will have to take it to a certified A/C specialist and determine where the leak is and repair it before refilling the system.

If the compressor does not engage, then you should check all the fuses and A/C relay.
