Pontiac 6000 Broken CrankShaft Sensor
Q. Hi, I have a 1988 Pontiac 6000 2.8 liter with about 175,000 miles and automatic transmission. I'm having trouble getting the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) out. I got the bolt off but when trying to pry the sensor out, the plastic connector broke into pieces so all I have left showing is the two wires sticking out. I know that the rubber O-ring must be stuck but haven't been able to get anything up in that area to try to pry the sensor out.
About all I have room for is a short small screwdriver and I haven't had any luck with that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
SherryA. I got one out with a ¼" drive air ratchet by using it to install a long threaded screw with a self tapping bolt. Then lever it out with long needle nose pliers. It's tight up there! OR remove the oil pan and push it out from the inside.
