Dodge Intrepid No Fire In The Hold Q. Brief explanation of the problem: Yesterday as I was leaving work, I started my car with no difficulty and then proceeded out of the parking lot and up a steep hill to a stop sign. When I stopped the car it shut off and would not start again. I had to stopped the car it shut off and would not start again. I had to get it towed. Today it still won't start.

My husband has checked it and he says that no fire is getting to the spark plugs but he can't determine why that is happening. He has also checked the timing belt which is OK, the fuel injectors are getting gas. He has changed the component that the spark plug wires go into to fire the spark plugs. Any suggestions?

A. There are several things that could go wrong here. The ignition coil, the coil wire, the distributor cap and rotor, the Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) or the main EFI computer. Before I go checking anything else, the first thing I always check are the fuses. I don't know how many people spent hours looking for a problem when all it was is a blown fuse.

Since there are so many possibilities, I can't really suggest what is the most likely. All I can suggest is getting a service manual and use the "No spark" troubleshooting diagnostic tree to isolate the problem.
