Volkswagen Jetta Flash2Pass Q. Hi Vince: I have a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. I am going to install Flash2Pass, a remote garage door opener that activates via pulses on the wire to the high beam preferably on the passenger side. The junction block behind the lamp has at least 5 wires going into it.

believe that the ground or common is the thick brown wire, but I have not been able to discern which is the high beam wire. I called the dealer's service department, but the fellow there told me that looking up the wiring diagram on the CD is a real pain, so if the car was there he would simply use a test light.

I guess I can use my multimeter, but I thought that someone would know which wire was which. Do you?

A. Even while utilizing a wiring diagram I would still verify voltage to the specific wire with a multimeter or test light while the high beams were activated.
