Chevy S-10 Blazer ABS Problem

Q. Vincent, I have a 1991 Chevy S-10 Blazer Sport 4x4. 4.3 liter, automatic transmission, ABS and cruise with 122,000 miles on it. My brakes work fine on dry pavement but when the ABS kicks in, on gravel or wet road, the pedal goes to the floor. I can feel the pedal vibrating as it sinks, I can also hear it.

Chevy S-10 Blazer ABS Problem

I just read your description on ABS and realized that loud groan when I drive away in the morning is the pump self test. The ABS light only comes on for three seconds on start up then goes out. It doesn't even light up when the pedal is going to the floor. It happens in 2 and 4 wheel drive. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks, Scott

A. The question is does it stop? It feels like it's going to the floor but it's really pumping the brakes for you at several hundred times per second. This is how ABS works. If you still don't feel like it's right, see a tech! Don't take my word for it that there is nothing wrong. Have someone drive it to see if it's normal or there is a problem.
