Toyota Avalon Fuel Injector
Q. I have a 2000 Toyota Avalon with 25,000 miles. The check engine lamp came on, took it to a dealer and was told it was the #1 cylinder fuel injector. Cost to replace $520.00. Not that I distrust most dealers, which I do, is there something I could check or do before I have them repair it? Warranty was up on age two months ago.
Thanks,
KenA. About all you can do is unplug the injector while the engine is running to see if there is any change in engine speed. If there is little or no change, then you probably do have a bad fuel injector. If there is a large difference in engine speed, then the fuel injector is working.
At this time and milage I would suggest calling Toyota Customer Service and request an appointment with the Toyota Factor Representative and ask for some help with this. A fuel injector should not go bad in 25,000 miles. Most times they will split the parts and labor or cover the cost completely. Just be firm but polite and you will get help.
