Heavy Coolant Loss

Q. I have a problem of having to refill the coolant in my car every 300 miles. I overfill it and within 150 miles of driving the "Low Coolant" light goes off. I have sent it to the dealer where I spent $175.00 (replaced the radiator gasket, the cap, put in a new hose clamp, and replaced the reservoir tank).

Another place checked for leaks and couldn't find anything. There is never any green stuff or leakage under the car either. Any thoughts on what it might be? Any help would be appreciated.

Frustrated

A. There's only two places coolant can go, it either leaks outside of the engine or it leaks inside. I would pull the spark plugs out and look at them. If they are bleached white, then you are sucking coolant into the cylinders and burning it. You could have a bad head gasket or cracked cylinder head.

Another thing to try is pressure testing it with the engine running. Sometimes reveals a leaking water pump. From what you describe it has to be a pretty heavy leak.
