BMW 328i Water In Transmission Fluid
Q. Hi Vince, I'm a new 2000 BMW 328i owner and I love this car. Unfortunately last night I was checking fluid levels and by accident I added about four or five ounces of water to my automatic transmission fluid reservoir. I see by the owners manual this fluid is suppose to be lifetime use in the vehicle. What should I do?
Will the filter pick this moisture up or do I need to get an immediate power flush and fluid replacement. I've not driven it since. Is this the best action until I can get it to the shop?
Kind regards,
VannA. I think if the quantity was only four or five ounces you should be okay, the water will evaporate out of the system.
Since you haven't operated the vehicle yet, the water should still be in the reservoir and not circulated into the transmission yet. Therefore, it should be easy to simply drain the reservoir by removing one of the hoses and draining the reservoir, then topping it up with the proper ATF.
