New Nissan Altima

Q. I've got a question about the new Altima's that Nissan has released. A friend of mine from the local Nissan dealer says she wants to get one for herself, but she's slightly reluctant because she's afraid this vehicle may not be all that it's built up to be. She says she likes the new V-6 engine, but is it really that good?

I personally think the V-6 is quite good with its Corvette like get-up-and-go and it's rest-a-nickel-on-the-valve-cover idle much like that of a straight-6. What do you think?

A. The Nissan V-6 has always been, in my opinion, one of the best engines made. They have always been a strong solid engine that lasts for many, many miles. But as with any engine, it's service life depends on how well it's cared for.

The Altima has a good history or dependability and basically it's a baby Maxima. If it were me, I would not hesitate to buy one. It is a very nice car that will last you a good long time.
