Ford Escort Burnt Transmission Fluid
Q. I have written to you before about a problem with my 1991 Ford Escort Wagon and you really helped me and saved me a lot of Money too. This time I have another problem. My Escort's transmission fluid smells burnt. I've had the car for 15 months. I am not sure on mileage, no mileage was given as it is a used car. I remember my father always telling me that was not a good sign.
Can you give any type of good news. I would ask my father but, he is a truck driver and is hardly ever home. Also, I trust your judgement.
Thanks,
AngelA. If the car is otherwise operating correctly and shifting smoothly, I recommend that you get your transmission fluid changed as soon as you can. You should be able to tell the vehicles mileage by looking at the odometer located on the speedometer, if the vehicle was driven the national average mileage (12,000 per year), it should have about 156,000 miles on it.
