Replacing Toyota Camry Drive Belts

Q. Vincent, I have a 1998 Toyota Camry, 2.4 liter with A/C that I would like to replace the Serpentine and P/S belts. What is the technique for replacing those belts? It appears both belts loop around a common roller. I see a tension bolt for the Serpentine belt but can't figure how to get the P/S belt tension released. Any help would be appreciated. Be specific in your answer.

Thanks...

A. Here you go! It's easy to do.

REMOVAL:

  1. Loosen the pivot bolt and adjusting lock bolt. Torque: Pivot bolt: 38 foot pounds. Adjusting lock bolt: 13 foot pounds.
  2. Loosen the drive belt tension by adjusting bolt and remove the drive belt

INSTALLATION:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

To remove the P/S belt, remove the right fender apron. Then loosen the pivot and adjusting bolts, swing the P/S pump towards the engine and remove the P/S belt.
